Stop NSW Slashing Education Funding

Reverse the decision to cut State funding to public, Catholic and independent schools and instead make a commitment to support, foster and encourage all schooling in order to broaden the intellectual, moral and spiritual resources of our future generations.

Why is this important?

Education shapes us as individuals.  It is the foundation stone from which we launch ourselves into the world.  

The need to support education is vital to our children's future. The proposed funding cuts would mean significant strain on independent schools. This would result in loss of support staff, teaching staff, larger class sizes and cuts to education programs. Independent schools would have little choice but to raise school fees, placing an additional burden on parents who make the choice to financially support their decision of which school they send their child to.

If students move from the independent sector to public schools due to a rise in school fees, this means more cost to the NSW government and additional stress on an already overloaded public school system. We urge you to support the schooling sector and the growth and health of education in NSW.

Not all children are the same and we don't WANT them to be the same.  Parents must feel able and encouraged to choose the school which best suits the unique nature of their child.  A healthy educational mix fosters robust debate, independent thinking, engaged and intelligent individuals with a strong moral and spiritual code of ethics and the desire to engage with and support society.

How it will be delivered

We will deliver our petition in person, staging a Press Conference on the steps of the NSW Parliament to make the views of concerned parents and students heard.
