TAFE TOO GOOD TO LOSE IN SA

Dear Members of the South Australian Parliament,

TAFE in SA is too good to lose. Please support guaranteed funding for TAFE!

Why is this important?

State Government policies are destroying TAFE in SA. The short-sighted policy of making public Vocational Education and Training (VET) funding fully contestable means nothing more than taxpayers money going into the pockets of sometimes unscrupulous profit driven private Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), with disastrous effects for students, employers and our economy.

All South Australians own our public TAFE system. Already, over $70 million of your money is going to private for-profit RTOs while TAFE SA campuses and courses are closing, denying students access to the high quality vocational education they need for the jobs of the future.

Fully contestable funding is nothing more than the ideologically driven privatisation of VET and a race to the bottom. Federally, Bill Shorten's Labor Party is backing TAFE by guaranteeing government funding, recognising the need to reverse the damage being done. It's time for South Australian politicians to do the same!

How it will be delivered

Your signature will be delivered directly to all SA politicians prior to the State election in March .

This petition was created by the AEU (SA Branch) TAFE Divisional Council.

Reasons for signing

  • TAFE helps everyone to further their careers
  • TAFE enabled me to gain practical skills after completing my degree and being unable to find employment. I was able to immediately find work after I completed my Cert III. TAFE enabled me to start my career. TAFE is too good to lose!
  • TAFE is just too important to loose. All my TAFE studies have been worthwhile and useful in the real world of work. I will always trust a TAFE qulification on an employees CV before any others.
