RE: Objection to Planning Proposal Nambucca LEP 2010 Amendment No 21 Housekeeping and other policy amendments – Specifically item 8 – Lot 470, DP 755550 rezoning from RE-1 (Public Recreation) to Medium Density Residential (R3)

Dear Lisa,

We object to this rezoning proposal for the following reasons:

This precious tiny green space (0.87ha), that includes a natural water course supporting thousands of frogs, birds, echidnas and other native wildlife, currently zoned Public Recreation, and proposed for rezoning to Medium Density Housing is adjacent to 390,000 sq m of undeveloped land already zoned Residential. Surely, this space should also be retained as Public Recreation or Environmental (E3). Note - It would probably be a superb site for a community garden!

Koala's and Green & Golden Bell Frogs have been heard in the adjacent forested area, and kids for more than 3 generations have played in this space.

As per Item 4. of the "Gateway Determination- Nambucca Amendment 21" Item 4 - we request/insist on a public hearing to address all our concerns and that of neighbours that are also affected by this rezoning.

Yours Sincerely,

A very concerned Resident and/or Rate Payer, and voter.

Why is this important?

We object to this rezoning proposal for the following reasons:

Please - Lets do this for our children, and their children! Who knows how much of our Public Recreation spaces will be lost to Residential development?

How it will be delivered

We will also email the signatures to all Nambucca Heads Shire Councilors & the NSW Minister for Local Government, and NSW Minister for Planning and Environement before Thursday, 20th October.

Reasons for signing

  • A bush corridor that should be left intact.
  • Leave some green for our Kids.
  • For our friends who enjoy a perfect bush location in town.

Thanks folks for supporting this important issue, not necessarily for us, but for our children, and the wildlife that do not have a voice, and sincerely wish you all the very best for 2017.

The bad news is that this issue is NOT going to a public hearing, rather a Council meeting this Thursday January 12th, at 5.30pm at the NH Council Offices in Macksville (44 Princess Street) - COULD I PLEASE ASK AS MANY OF YOU AS ARE ABLE - To attend this meeting and support retaining our existing and precious Public Recreation spaces.

G'day Friends,

Due to your support and that of other concerned residents, I believe to 99% certainty that this issue WILL go to a public hearing. Not sure, but It's highly likely this public hearing will be conducted in the New Year, so PLEASE keep these signatures coming!

Thanks kindly, Adrian (and all the native flora and fauna of Lot 470 that do not have a voice)

G'day Friends,

I talked this morning with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (Regional Office in Grafton); this LEP Amendment Proposal 21, was approved under a 'Gateway Determination'. Given the high level of community objections to rezoning of Lot 470, DP 755550, I was advised in our Objection letters to ask for a Public 'Hearing' (Clause 4, of the Gateway Determination), and also to include as much detail in our Objection Letters. I'm becoming much more optimistic we can come to a good landing for this superb patch of green space! But we need to keep these signatures coming, and of course the Objection Letters!

Cheers, Adrian

I'll post here when the date and location of the Nambucca Shire Council Meeting is to approve this rezoning application. I've been told that it really does make a difference with more supporters at the Council meeting. It's very likely that the meeting will be in December. Very much hope we see you there! Thank you all.
