Sack Justin Milne - Chairman ABC Board

Dear Governor General of Australia, you are the only person who can sack the Chairman of the ABC Board. Since the the current Chairman Justin Milne has clearly shown to be politically biased and performing his job based on various conflicts of interests and having a direct effect on the independence of the ABC journalists.
We petition you to please remove Justin Milne from this position as Chairman of the ABC board immediately.

Why is this important?

The ABC is an important media asset belonging to the people of Australia. We want it to operate with no indirect or direct instructions from politicians or their proxies on how to perform it's role as independent unbiased reporter. It is not the role of the Chairman to make decisions on who gets hired or fired. The current chairman is not fit to continue in this role.

Reasons for signing

  • I think all staff would feel the need to be compliant to one person. There is an element of human nature that integrates personal life choices and beliefs into their work decisions. The hire/fire decisions should come from well-qualified HR with specific unit staff member/s. If the Chairman, other staff or members of the public are aware of public/private damaging behaviours, the importance should be weighed up.
  • This government has been attacking the ABC consistetly over the past 5 years. It needs to stop and the ABC must remain as the only trusted news outlet for our country. We are in danger of having our ABC becomming the tool of the governing party which will mean the end of democracy as we have known it.
