Forest Legacy WA Project

To all Members of the West Australian State Parliament:
Dear Members. We call on you to reject the South West Native Forest 10 Year Management Plan 2014 - 2023 proposed by the Forest Products Commission. We request that all logging be ended and our forests dedicated to carbon storage and sequestration.

Why is this important?

The Forest Products Commission's Draft Management Plan would allow 1,000 sq km of our SW native forests to be logged. This would enable clear felling operations, over a 10 year period 2014 - 2023. The cost of the plan to taxpayers would be $9m per year plus associated damage to ecosystems. If our forests are dedicated to carbon storage and sequestration (sequestration refers to the capturing of carbon) they can generate an annual income of $16m - $438m. This would protect our forests, endangered fauna and flora and assist the mitigation of climate change.

How it will be delivered

The petition will be delivered to the West Australian State Parliament via a Lower House Member of Parliament.

  • Just want to say---- THE CAUSE OF EVERY ENVIROMENTAL PROBLEM ON EARTH IS OVERPOPUATION!!!
  • This is a horrific shock to me. How can we not try to prevent it!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The southwest forests of WA are unique & they are our children,s legacy... and should not be logged for woodchips or,firewood or sleepers.
