We ask that the Knox City Council approves the application currently being considered to subdivide the land at 157-173 Glenfern Road, Upper Ferntree Gully into 5 lots, each of an average of 13.5 acres. The site currently encompasses two titles, and the proposal is in accordance with the minimum lot size for subdivision in this area, and other general planning provisions. The site is approximately 77 acres and the application provides more than 10 acres for recreational and environmental areas to be managed by Knox City Council, Melbourne Water and the local community.
Approval of this application upholds the landowner’s right to use their land within the zoning provisions of Knox City Council and the State Government.
The proposal can achieve a wonderful outcome for the future environmental and social amenity of the area, in that it allows for the provision of a Council reserve and of a possible walking track linking the Glenfern Valley Bushland to the south east and Kings Park reserves to the north west, all for the benefit of the community in perpetuity.
