• Do not remove climate consideration from the NSW planning system
On 17th March 2020 the NSW Parliament will be debating a bill to REMOVE consideration of climate change for new coal mines and gas fields. The Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment (Territorial Limits) Bill has been created in direct response to pressure from the mining industry because the Independent Planning Commission has taken the contribution that coal mines make to climate change into account recently. It is insane that given the current bushfire crisis and ongoing drought that the NSW Government is even entertaining mining lobby desires that so clearly fly in the face of appropriate action on climate change. We know the mining and burning of fossil fuels are the #1 cause of dangerous climate change, which increases the intensity of extreme weather events like these bushfires.  And we also know that Australia is a small player in the total global “game” - but this is no justification for making bad environmental decisions. It is imperative that the NSW Goverment takes strong action to reduce our state's contribution to climate change.

  • No mobile phone tower in Sandown Park
Sandown Park is a much loved Hobart recreational area. People come to wind down, walk their dogs, play some sport and to breathe the air. Telstra have decided to build a huge array of mobile phone antennae on an existing pole in the park relying on their own interpretation that this is low impact. They don’t want to ask the community what they think so the notice is buried in a small community newspaper. Please treat the community with respect, we care about the place we live in and the places we use to unwind in. Please don’t wreck our park. Note: No design or image of the proposed addition of 6 antennae on the pole has been provided so the third image is an example of a 6 antennae configuration. The image will be updated once provided by Telstra

  • Free Fiona Smith, #Right2Refuse protester & platypus advocate
Fiona Smith was to attend International Victims of Psychiatrists Day on 10th Oct 2pm - 5pm, at Canberra Parliament AAA. This is about a protester & human rights defender being silenced by the vile cruel exploitation legislation that is the MHA. Risperdal Consta is causing Fiona Smith horrific pain and damage to her body, disfiguring, disabling and retarding of her abilities. Risperdal Consta is known to cause - -agitation -anxiety -changes in vision, including blurred vision -difficulty concentrating -difficulty speaking or swallowing -inability to move the eyes -increase in amount of urine -loss of balance control -mask-like face -memory problems -muscle spasms of the face, neck, and back -problems with urination -restlessness or need to keep moving (severe) -shuffling walk -skin rash or itching -stiffness or weakness of the arms or legs -tic-like or twitching movements -trembling and shaking of the fingers and hands -trouble sleeping -twisting body movements This is outrageously cruel drug to forcibly subject Fiona Smith to. Her skin was torn when they forcibly injected her in her arm, causing her to bleed, and as she said 'blood everywhere all over the bed where they held me down.' Victorians must think of human rights and dignity, before the money made from human research. It is a disgusting thing for a State Government, and a Federal Government to profit from. Forced Human Experimentation, and the psychiatrists that torture people for profit, must be utterly condemned and immediately stopped. For a state such as Victoria to train psychiatrists to torture little animals in their research, then move on to humans is disgusting. For these psychiatrists to take pleasure in the power they have to break people under torture, into servitude as research specimens, and be allowed to do that through State legislation, is so vile and evil. That the State Legislators have given violating psychiatrists loopholes such as Emergency Treatment/ Research, and the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014, is not something that should be allowed. No State/ Territory in Australia, or any other place in the world, should be allowing psychiatrists to force their products, procedures, programs, beds and research on people. And the life of our rivers, as Fiona Smith has been advocating must also be considered. The river water would not be any where near as polluted as it is if there was no forced psychiatry. Victoria and the rest of Australia must implement international agreements, such as the UN CRPD, stop violating Fiona Smith, the people she's being protesting for, and the river life she's also been advocating for. https://youtu.be/NfWEu3BPaWU Forced psychiatry should be considered a servitude offense, and the Code violations, for the human research people have been forcibly subjected be recognised and subjected to the full force of the law.

  • Save Toondah's Wetlands
Walker Group has proposed to build 3600 units in the Toondah wetlands in Moreton Bay (a RAMSAR site) which will devastate mangroves, and harm migratory shorebirds, dolphin, dugong, turtle, and koala populations in the area. The former QLD State Newman LNP Government had issued the area a PDA (Priority Development Area) but the current QLD State Labor Government has kept it in place, and the Federal Coalition Government has ignored the advice of its own environmental department on the issue. If built this could also devastate the local economy with increased congestion on our roads, the Cleveland CBD could receive less attention hurting local businesses, and placing more of a burden on the taxpayer to fund for this project despite the concerns of climate change and rising sea levels in an area that could be built on reclaimed wetlands. Local first nations groups have also received hardly any contact or input in the process, as this is an area sensitive to cultural heritage as well. Building such a development could also pose as a noise and potential health risk to nearby residents. • Don't Frack the Outback - Injune Qld
When people visit the Outback they expect to see wildlife, trees and wide open spaces. Not gas wells. This project allows multinational companies to drill and frack 940 wells on farms, in State Forests, right near Carnarvon National Park. Fracking even one well is too many. Drilling more wells when the climate is in crisis and Australia faces no shortage of gas if it was reserved from exports is not necessary, economically wise, or morally sound. This acts as a submission opposing Australia Pacific LNG application to vary Environmental Authority EPPG00787513.

  • Save Kintore Street Village
Imagine waking up in the morning to crying, screaming, laughing or the patter of 40 little feet and they're not your own kids but someone elses! That's going to happen to us if the DA is passed on the Child Care Centre built next door in a residential area in Dulwich Hill. Not to mention the additional traffic chaos that will be created in a street that boasts a primary school of 650 students and commuters parking their cars all day when they use the light rail!

  • Ban Political Advertising on Newspaper Cover Pages
Quest News is owned and operated by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp Australia. Quest Community Newspapers is a tabloid news company located in Bowen Hills which provides free paper delievered and online news coverage for the greater Brisbane area. I do not believe that it is ethical or appropriate for Quest News to be so heavily influenced by political advertisements that they dominate the front cover of your newspaper. When any News Corporation allows this to happen, they send a direct message to their readers that the political party being advertised is one in which the newspaper personally recommends or believes should be voted into power. Also, the content and advertisements that Quest News choose to allow into their printed media have a power to influence their readers. Therefore, they have a responsibility for what they choose to advertise and the way in which it is advertised. I believe that Quest News should aim to keep their content (including advertising) as unbiased a possible, therefore allowing reasonable representation from all parties involved in upcoming elections. These advertisements should be limited to only holding space within the newspaper and should never dominate the highly influential cover page of a newspaper. I would like Quest News to reconsider its current policy to allow any political party or their affiliates to use their financial advertising dollars to buy such high levels of influence by purchasing advertising sleeves dominate the front cover, back cover and inner sleeves of your newspaper. Please sign this petition if you agree with these statements. Cheers Kirsty Clausen
