• Stop Covid-19 dead; economy recovers quickly
We want to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on the Australian public, and to demonstrate to the world that with good science, goodwill and political agreement this disease can be controlled. This approach will shock us all. But in 3 months we will thank you and all the health workers of Australian at the End of Covid-19 party.

  • Support Our Early Childhood Educators
Early childhood educators are at the frontline providing vital care and education for over 1.3 million children. But they are doing it tough. A decline in the number of children attending services means that some services will close their doors and educators will loose their jobs. EC educators required to self-isolate for their safety, the safety of the children in their care and the wider community – may loose their income. Job losses and service closures will have huge ramifications for educators, children, families and the Australian economy, now, and in the future. If we guarantee to support our educators now, the flow-on effect for children, families and childcare businesses, whether for-profit or non-profit, will be immense. It will keep people in jobs and not reliant on welfare. At this time of national crisis, and coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC), the need to keep Australian children’s early childhood education and care services working is never more pressing.

  • Protect Small Business Essential Services
Suppliers/ manufacturers are limited in their supply of goods to wholesalers (Metcash, t/a/ Campbells) who stock small business such as IGA's. They are forced to maintain preferential supply to major retailers Coles & Woolworths. If small traders can not access stock to sell to our local customers during the lockdown, it will only exacerbate the spread of the virus and drive small businesses to close from financial ruin. The priority must be to get stock to consumers, where ever they choose to shop. Whilst Coles representatives are seen on the news standing in front of warehouses stacked to the roof - my wholesaler's (Metcash) racks are bare. This is unethical in this time of crisis.

  • Renationalise QANTAS Now
20,000 workers were just told that their bosses' profits are more important than their lives. A huge handout of Australian taxpayer money did nothing to stop this. Renationalising the airline would allow all these workers to be immediately reinstated, and it would allow Australians to control one of the country's flagship companies and largest emitters of greenhouse gases.

  • RELEASE Australia's withheld water supplies NOW
AUSTRALIA IS NOT RUNNING OUT OF WATER... IT IS BEING SOLD FOR PROFIT ! Let's stop arguing about whether climate change is real or a hoax, it really doesn't matter any more. Australia is in a catastrophic state of emergency and if these water mis-use practices are not immediately ceased, the situation will become even more disastrous.

  • We demand a Royal Commission into the #Robodebt scheme.
How many people have to suffer before a #Robodebt Royal Commission is called? #Robodebt useds intentionally flawed "data matching" to make inflated debt claims from six or more years previously, places the onus on the victim to disprove the claims within 28 days, the department refuses to provide any justification for its claims when asked to do so, and then initiates procedures to recover "debts" including heavy-handed use of debt collectors when the debts are still in dispute. Despite improvements to the program, including increased involvement from Centrelink staff and outreach to affected welfare recipients, the scheme is still having an adverse impact on vulnerable people. Debts raised under past iterations of the scheme need to be reviewed, because people who had overpayments raised under the old system, which involved very little oversight from staff, would have paid back money they did not owe. #Robodebt causes stress and anxiety among the country’s most vulnerable people. Research has shown welfare recipients are more likely to report mental health issues and the debt recovery scheme has “exacerbated” the existing hardship and symptoms of mental illness of affected people. #Robodebt reverses the onus of proof onto welfare recipients, and those who do not engage with the process or are unable to provide such evidence are likely to get a debt notice because compliance staff will then use a “controversial averaging” tool to predict their fortnightly income using their annual tax return. The government needs to be brought to justice for causing millions of people severe stress over fake debt notices delivered by his #Robodebt scheme. • No mobile phone tower in Sandown Park
Sandown Park is a much loved Hobart recreational area. People come to wind down, walk their dogs, play some sport and to breathe the air. Telstra have decided to build a huge array of mobile phone antennae on an existing pole in the park relying on their own interpretation that this is low impact. They don’t want to ask the community what they think so the notice is buried in a small community newspaper. Please treat the community with respect, we care about the place we live in and the places we use to unwind in. Please don’t wreck our park. Note: No design or image of the proposed addition of 6 antennae on the pole has been provided so the third image is an example of a 6 antennae configuration. The image will be updated once provided by Telstra

  • Save Toondah's Wetlands
Walker Group has proposed to build 3600 units in the Toondah wetlands in Moreton Bay (a RAMSAR site) which will devastate mangroves, and harm migratory shorebirds, dolphin, dugong, turtle, and koala populations in the area. The former QLD State Newman LNP Government had issued the area a PDA (Priority Development Area) but the current QLD State Labor Government has kept it in place, and the Federal Coalition Government has ignored the advice of its own environmental department on the issue. If built this could also devastate the local economy with increased congestion on our roads, the Cleveland CBD could receive less attention hurting local businesses, and placing more of a burden on the taxpayer to fund for this project despite the concerns of climate change and rising sea levels in an area that could be built on reclaimed wetlands. Local first nations groups have also received hardly any contact or input in the process, as this is an area sensitive to cultural heritage as well. Building such a development could also pose as a noise and potential health risk to nearby residents.
